Kurt Cobain, frontman for rock band Nirvana, committed suicide in 1994 with a self-inflicted shotgun wound.
The best portions of his letter are compiled in this post. We think that these paragraphs manage to bring out the most heartbreaking moments of Cobain’s life.
“I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music along with reading and writing for too many years now. I feel guilty beyond words about these things.”
We’re sure composers and authors would understand the pain and anguish of not truly enjoying the process of creating a piece of work.
Pure, unadulterated joy is what keeps us all going. Nothing feels worse than simply going through the motion of creation.
Frances and Courtney, I’ll be at your alter.
Please keep going Courtney, for Frances.
For her life, which will be so much happier without me.
I LOVE YOU, I LOVE YOU!
Cobain cared for his family even when the shotgun was pointing at his chin.
And we saved the best for last.
I don’t have the passion anymore, and so remember, it’s better to burn out than to fade away.
